Hope made Red choose a different path from Brooks, gave him something to do, and truly gave him freedom to leave that prison. I admire the male lead for persisting for so long and escaping. It's a pity that a black man was released from prison and had nothing to do. He didn't have much work ability and goals, so he committed suicide.
